Sure, Jurassic World reboots the Jurassic Park franchise, but did it really need a reboot? By all means, Jurassic 4 has some awesome ideas that probably look good on storyboard--a beautiful island design and brand new CGI "rides." Everyone really just watched this to see Chris Pratt as the dinosaur whisperer, though. Looking back on it, the concept of a velociraptor tamer sounds incredibly dumb. And Pratt did it because he's badass.

Jurassic World turned out a lot more fun than it really deserved to be. And I have no effing clue why I've stuck with this franchise...

Just watched this again. It's still bad, but I liked watching the T-Rex tear apart Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville.
Makes me want to sip a margarita. :-P

Barely even made it an hour in before I turned it off. So dull...

Editing … I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It's a dull, poorly-written film regardless of premise.

Editing … "Progressing through the series" as in watching #3? Fuck no, that's the worst one.

Editing … I liked the first one, mostly because of Richard Attenborough. And Nedry and Dodgson. And Samuel L. "Hold onto your butts" Jackson. I mean, it was slow, but it had its moments. And yeah, I'm a sucker for it, because I rode the ride a million times at Universal Studios Hollywood. Lol.

Editing … #3 was funny, because it had William H. Macy acting like an idiot 24/7. Lol. Oh yeah, I guess it wasn't good either. http://knowyourmeme.com/photos/879050-see-nobody-cares

Editing … I think I would have really liked a gritty, dog eat dog, rated-R survivalist version of this movie - Similarly to how I'd much rather watch Battle Royale than Hunger Games. As it is, it's a predictable bore.

Editing … You'd think that they'd hit the rated-R level by now. I mean, enough people die in this movie. It's as if Hollywood was so close to Battle Royale, but then the studio chickened out because it wanted more money from the kids. The story of every summer blockbuster.

Editing … More or less. I mean, how else can such a mediocre movie make so much money? Jurassic World made a ridiculous amount of money for what it is. Mad Max was a thousand times more bang for your buck that summer, and it wouldn't surprise me if it made a quarter as much money.

I loved the first two Jurassic Parks (yes, even the second one), liked the third one, but this... this bollocks right here was at the same time: stupid beyond belief, corny as shit AND, what's the greatest sin for a movie about dinosaurs, as far as I'm concerned, boring. That ending couldn't have come any sooner.

It is dumb and the clichés are all over the place but I managed to turn of my brain and enjoy 2 hours of dinosaur action.

Jurassic World was an enjoyable but unnecessary sequel that was better than I expected, but still not a great movie.

"Jurassic World" is a competent, yet all to familiar, summer blockbuster that the fine producers of Hollywood can turn out in their sleep. I mean where is the risk, the creativity, the ingenuity? I'll take anything at this point, anything that tries even a smidge to be different. The latest installment to the rather shaky franchise that is Jurassic Park is, by all accounts, mundane & safe. It's by no means a bad film, just yet another drop in the bucket that is the summer blockbuster genre. Really the best compliment I can give to "Jurassic World" is that it is the second best movie in the franchise but let us be honest here, that isn't saying too much. The biggest problem I have with this latest installment is that it's too big for its own good. It's more of a monster movie then its predecessors, which I'll be honest I didn't think is possible. One of the first things I noticed when I re-watched "Jurassic Park" was just how much of a monster movie it was. Take away the minor moments of awe & Malcolm's babbling about "how science has gone to far" and you see just how much of a monster movie it is. What makes "Jurassic World" more of a monster movie is the fact that it has none of those minor moments. Sure, Spielberg didn't do to much in fleshing out those minor moments but at least he had them. This latest installment is literally nothing more then 2 hours of people running away from monsters. And this time around there are more people doing the running, I'd argue too many. There is obviously a core group of characters but by god did I not care about their survival at all. And when we're not seeing them run away we see 1,000s of other do it and care even less. This brings me to another problem I have with "Jurassic World" which is, if you haven't already guessed, that there are absolutely no moments of suspense, making it an action film that is hindered right from the get go. One of the reasons why "Jurassic Park" is so good is by just how good of a job Spielberg does in creating suspense and how it works within the confides of the action. Looking back I cannot recall one moment in "Jurassic World" where I was truly on the edge of my seat, really I was more hunched over my seat because I was laughing at the silliness of it all. There are a lot of dumb moments in this latest installment, like "tim not handing sattler the shotgun" dumb. The screenplay is scattered with questionable logic & and some rather cringe inducing dialogue. The ending in particular, while obviously being the "coolest" moment of the film, was so damn silly I had to rub my eyes to make sure I wasn't watching an inspirational sports drama. When it all comes together, "Jurassic World" is really a meh experience. It's highly watchable but there's really not much else to it. It just doesn't leave the type impact that "Jurassic Park" did - really it doesn't leave much of an impact at all - and really does make you think "why is this even a thing (outside of money)". "Jurassic World" is just another stop on the hype train that is the summer blockbuster season. Now all a bored for the next stop, "Terminator Genisys". (6/10)
