Gee, Mike Teavee's fate has obviously bothered me.

Honestly it always bothered me how Mike Teavee got the worst consequences in this film. He had the best of intentions and it ended in him leaving as a paper-thin giant while the others were just covered in trash, covered in chocolate, or were given new powers of flexibility and a trendy new blue skintone. And honestly you can't live a full life as a paper-thin giant. This has always bothered me.

Editing … The only good thing about that movie was that Christopher Lee was in it.

Editing … That is my favorite thing about Dahl. He's fine with showing bad stuff happening to kids. When you're a kid it's scary but morbidly thrilling, his books stay with you forever. I never saw this movie but I like the Gene Wilder one.

Editing … At the end of the Wilder one, Wonka says that the kids are leaving just as they entered, only a little wiser. Child-hating Michael Jackson was a sadist, though. When Veruca's declaring that she wants to grab one of the squirrels he's like "oh no don't" and as soon as she crosses the railing he gives the evilest grin. Now if it were one of the other kids getting their lifespan cut short (and their remaining time a living hell) then okay okay he's just a bad guy, but Mike Teavee was a mathematical genius that accomplished something that even billionaires funding their own golden ticket efforts were unable to achieve. Mike Teavee bought only one Wonka bar, because he mathematically deduced exactly where one of the five tickets in the world would end up. In the first adaptation we see people creating fucking supercomputers to try this shit.

Editing … AND HIS ACTIONS THAT LED TO THESE CONSEQUENCES WERE ONLY WITH THE BEST OF INTENTIONS, TO USE WONKA'S CUTTING EDGE TECH FOR THE BENEFIT OF MANKIND AND NOT JUST FOR CHOCOLATE. Would fucking Charlie Bucket do that after he became the new factory owner? Haha no fucking way that kid ain't smart

Editing … Why are you analyzing so much? It's Willy Wonka, not Citizen Kane or My Little Pony.

Editing … and the Chocolate Factory movies are absolutely loaded with inane shit to analyze, like the fact that the second adaptation's Willy Wonka pretended not to know his attendee's names before proving that he actually did know them as well as how they got his tickets, indicating that he'd done prior research into them, further backed up by the horrific incidents seemingly picked out for each and every one of them, the sheer rehearsedness of which is pointed out by the ensemble. THERE'S SOME DEEP LORE RIGHT THERE THERE IS

Both of the actresses that played Veruca Salt did an excellent job and I find it sad that neither of them had a real career after the role (the second Veruca didn't have any other credits at all, I believe)

I always wondered why Charlie and the Chocolate Factory would ever hire a child actor as shit as Freddie Highmore but I think it might fit with the commentary on how terrible children are

It's a shame that the accident at the Wonka factory (second adaptation) obviously resulted in an early death for Mike Teavee, because he was clearly established to be a genius capable of things that even supercomputers (first adaptation) wouldn't accomplish. One just can't live a long life being flattened and stretched out.
