    Saved!
A solid start to the franchise :) A lot simpler than the films that followed, it has none of the gadgetry and campiness synonymous with the series. Connery plays the role well, and Bond comes across as powerful and calculating, if somewhat cold. It is made clear that Bond is a lethal opponent, more than capable of being heavy-handed if required and often takes charge through intimidation and treats. This makes it hard to root for the character at first, but solidifies the gritty nature of espionage, this is war and sometimes Bond must play the role of hired killer. This is a theme central to the character and one he struggles with in later films. Great movie :)
