Anthy is one of the most ambiguous and baffling characters I've encountered, not just in anime, but in fiction in general. She's the fairy-tale princess that needs to be rescued, but she's also the wicked witch. She can be manipulative and cruel, but I wouldn't exactly call her evil. Like most of the cast in Utena, she's a rich and complex character.
