The Place Promised in Our Early Days is one of the most visually striking animated films I have seen with an equally beautiful soundtrack. However, I found that the story was somewhat lacking. There are some touching moments, but I didn't care for the sci-fi ish alternate dimension dreaming world mumbo jumbo that was woven into the plot.
