Read this while in the deep woods last week, a lot more violent and wild than the Tarzan I grew up knowing. Entertaining for the most part but fairly repetitive in it's themes, dialogue is terrible, a lot of coincidences happening, and really glossing over the character development. Strange yet ultimately obvious that Burroughs never visited Africa himself.... a lot of dated ideas and generalizations being thrown around here. I might even seek out one of the sequels to see where he took this character.
