I didn't expect this movie to be any good. I mean, this is a movie about a police force that handles giant robot crime or something. However, Patlabor: The Movie is a surprisingly deep film about the moral problems of using automated machinery for pure evil. There's more talking than actual activity in the movie, but all the interactions only seem to raise the stakes in a spectacular climax.
