I guess the original is a tough act to follow. I mean, it's the most important horror film released in my lifetime, pretty much can't top that. This movie embodies how the found footage genre went totally totally wrong. If you watch the original movie it's all about suspense and a creepy atmosphere and really strong acting performances. That's what the genre could have been. If you're wondering what the genre means in 2016, just watch this movie. It's all just another vehicle for the same jump scares and cliches you get in any horror movie. The point of found footage is that it is supposed to be real and believable but people just treat it as a clip-on gimmick to make their movie more interesting. I honestly think Book of Shadows is better.
