In the space of a single sitting, I went from catching frogs in a swamp, to slaying skeletons with the aid of a kaiju-sized thunder wizard, to running over enemies with a monster truck. I'm not sure exactly what this game is, and neither were the creators. Damn good fun though.

Marvel's Moon Knight was dope. It was definitely reminiscent of action-adventure movies like The Mummy. Oscar Issac was great and I thought the costumes were fun. I've been a bit lukewarm on Marvel's tv offerings, but this is definitely one I would happily rewatch.

Editing … Things are well, thanks. I ditched games and became a comic nerd for a while, so I stopped being a Silent Gamer and was instead just Silent. But that obsession has calmed down now (I think) and I thought I'd come back and see if Favsland was still alive. How about you? Hope your injury is healing up!

The KH4 announcement got me obsessing over the series again. I did my usual and consumed everything Kingdom Hearts for a month straight. But hey, at least I got myself an Ultimania out of it, and I finally completed Birth By Sleep, after rage-quitting the final boss over a decade ago. I'm excited for the new game and intrigued as to how it will be structured, but I know it's still a ways out and I'm not expecting it till 2024 at the earliest. KH3 was a poorly-paced mess of a game, but when it did hit its stride, damn was it fun. Which unfortunately is how I feel about most of Square Enix's games now. They usually feel cobbled-together and poorly directed, but although I still end up having fun, I just wish the quality was more consistent. Either way, I am super hyped to hit some more heartless with a big ol' key!

So, 'The Batman' was well shot, well acted, had comic-accurate characters and had a satisfyingly bleak Gotham. And yet, there is something about it that stops it being great, and I'm really not sure yet what that is. I'll need to rewatch it when it releases on Blu-Ray to find out, but I just can't bring myself to rate it anything more than "good".

Editing … They heavily marketed the detective story element of it but I wasn't remotely intrigued or shocked at any part of the mystery story. As cheesy as Batman Forever was, all the riddles being part of a larger riddle was at least.... something. I largely had positive things to say about it after watching but in the weeks after I struggle to remember anything I particularly enjoyed about it beyond the superficial.

Editing … It releases in June in the UK. That's a very good point about the lack of mystery. If they had included a puzzle for the audience to piece together, it would have gone a long way to making me feel more engaged. At almost an hour and a half in, I felt like I hadn't witnessed anything that wasn't already summarised in the 3 minute trailer. It picked up after that, but it took a long time to get going.

Went to see Evil Dead 4......oops, I meant 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness'. It was a visual feast, and has a lot to like if you are a Sam Raimi fan. But it has such weak writing and I found the pantomime-villainy pretty boring. I get the impression that the cohesive nature of the MCU is beginning to come apart.

Editing … I have not played a good tbs period other than Final Fantasy Tactics and maybe Field Commander on PSP which was at least decent. Entries in the genre tend to suffer the same design pitfalls over and over or just seem to be generally terrible anyway. (FFT had individual unit turns and a job system which made it great but most games seem to willingly eschew these elements, at their own peril. As if to say "naw, we can have a good game without those things, we don't want to clone FFT" and then proceed to fall down the stairs and into a dumpster, breaking every bone in their body, before catching fire. "See? Not a problem.") That said there is that one Switch game I was curious about, it was called.. oh right, Fae Tactics. It will probably suck if history has taught me anything, but I'd give it a try.

Editing … Honestly, now that gaming's been flooded with live services, and almost every AAA title has microtransactions... I think the hobby's kinda been killed for me. There just aren't that many AAA companies releasing *games* now, instead of addictive DLC malls. Microsoft's conference will probably be good, maybe they'll get me excited for something.

I am quite gutted that Death's Door isn't coming to PlayStation (at least not yet). Keeping my fingers crossed that won't always be the case. Really all I am looking for from this E3 is some new next-gen goodness. I wanna see what the new wave of gsmes will look like.

Editing … Good to finally see Elden Ring, and the release date isn't too far away. No Sony means limited enthusiasm. Mostly I just want some release dates, particularly for Switch titles. If we don't get a date for Zelda, the Switch is dead to me. I'd take any updates on Pikmin or Metroid Prime as well. And Psychonauts 2 is supposed to come out this year, so a concrete date would be nice.

I would recommend his Netflix special "Inside". Some of it will make you laugh, and some of it will depress you, but I guarantee you will feel something, even if it got a little dark for me.
