The trilogy packs a helluva journey. The ending might be a strange decision by the developer, but isn't it always about the journey? The 2nd game always sticks out to me as the most memorable and well-rounded of the 3 games (The Empire Strikes Back of ME, if you will); introducing and re-visiting great characters to round out our cast of heroes, widening the scope of the Reaper threat, and amping up the urgency to begin doing something about it.

Although I did miss the Mako exploration of the 1st game, I did find the planet scanning introduced in this game to be strangely addictive, mindlessly entertaining, and a nice break from the action and story elements. This is definitely a classic, and one of the most satisfying games I've ever had the pleasure of playing.
