I forgot how much this is just an Uncharted game on handheld. It's amazing how close they were able to keep all the mechanics to a traditional console iteration. Trying to get through a playthrough of it again but I'm mostly a traveling handheld gamer. I have a hard time playing a handheld at home when I have consoles to play that are more comfortable.

It's Uncharted... What can go wrong? A few things... The story is good; It's well passed, atmospheric, thrilling and charming like the console trilogy... but a little too simplistic; obviously playing it safe. The new character of Chase it's very likable and fun, she is like Nate's "younger sister he never had". Gameplay wise plays it safe, again, not a bad thing either but the touch screen functions could have been put for better use, it looks really good for PSVita and sound is well added but the music is kinda forgettable. Golden Abyss is a little rough around the edges, but it's still an Uncharted title and it's still fun to play.

If you play Uncharted games for the setpieces this isn't the game for you, as they are few and pretty small compared to the rollicking action films of Uncharted 2 and 3. If you like Uncharted for the personality and characters though this is a worthy handheld sequel. This adventure contains lots of good Nate and Sully moments, a few dramatic moments that work well, and even a new character in Chase. Gameplay is kind of a mixed bag. While not unexpected for a launch game, Bend went way overboard in incorporating touch and motion controls (although some uses work well). Combat is nowhere near as good as recent games, barely better than the original's. However, this is the first game to really emphasize exploring for treasures well.
