    Saved!
Death Cab for Cutie released plenty of memorable albums, but Transatlanticism was the first to truly show off their artistic intensity. The theme of long-distance love works in singer Ben Gibbard's favor, as he laments about all sorts of love that never materialized into a lasting relationship. Perhaps it's a sappy message for a hard rock album, but it makes perfect sense for a guitarist with such an eloquent voice. Transatlanticism might not have Death Cab's most upbeat hits, but the ambient wind sounds and the long echoes of the guitars and the piano create such an immersive atmosphere that could never be replicated.
