    Saved!
When video games still had cojones. A soundtrack that's strongly influenced by Einstürzende Neubauten, Throbbing Gristle, Der Eisenrost and other veterans of all things Noise and Industrial, this is nigh-on impossible to listen to at times (especially the Otherworld Suite starting with Don't Cry and finishing some 25 minutes later with the infernal My Heaven - and, oh! The songtitles! "Killed By Death"! "I'll Kill you"! "Die"! The lack of sublety! I love it! ), but Yamaoka's brilliant versatility as a composer and songwriter is illustrated by some of the smoother passages (especially the beautifully melodic Tears Of, the underrated Claw Finger, the much-vaunted Silent Hill main theme and of course Not Tomorrow, which puzzingly was never included in its original form but rather a chopped, two-part version to the chagrin of many fans, though obviously the original version is available somewhere in the netherworlds of the internet). Probably the boldest video game soundtrack in history.
