Da fuq? Who finds Homecoming easier than the first two games? It's five times harder!

At times I was pleasantly surprised. Whacking enemies with the pipe can be fun, and I was actually immersed in the story early on, exploring Alex's house while listening to good music and talking to the town's folk. But it lacked any subtlety, had a twist ending because SH2 had a twist ending, threw in a Pyramid Head cameo just cause, and by the end of the game I didn't care and was beating it just to beat it. A sequel that tries to give us new gameplay and old story, the opposite of what Silent Hill 2 and 3 did.

Alex Shepherd knows some sick knife combos.

I know that a lot of silent hill fans were very disappointed in this game, but I thought it was a lot of fun, personally. it was very creepy and although I didn't get the feeling of helplessness, I felt as thought something was going to jump out at me around every corner and it always kept me on my toes. the graphics were great and it had a great soundtrack, I liked the story too and uncovering all of the information about Alex's past. Great combat system, and just overall was good in my opinion. It may not be the silent hill that fans have grown up with or something but it was a worthwhile game in my opinion! The only thing I wish is that I could have gotten more information about some of the character's stories within the game... I don't know if there's a way to unlock more information about what happened to each individual person but I would love to know more!

IMO Homecoming is the step in the right direction for this franchise; the story is interesting but it tries so hard to be like SH2 instead of being it's own tale of "paternal love" and brotherhood witch is the story's strong point. Gameplay is excellent, Alex's skills has a soldier shows when fighting making it the best combat system in the series so far; fair balance of puzzles and exploration, nice graphics and good soundtrack. I hope future developers notice the good things this game have and use it has example for future SH games.

I'm not sure at which point the series jumped the shark first, here or when that godawful Christophe Gans movie came out. But jump the shark it did. Move along now, nothing to see here.
