"Heart of Sword." Easily one of the most popular ending anime songs at the karaoke joints. So good that Adult Swim used it as the opening when they aired Kenshin.

The actual music video is weird, though. Takanori Nishikawa is trying to look so emo on the brightest glowing chair in existence. Just thought I'd mention that. Must've been a badass chair.

    The opening in a nutshell:

Oh s**t, this is gonna be so dark, with super-powerful samurai and people dying. And then cue the cheerful doo-wop music. Lol.

Editing … One of the weirdest most out-of-place openings for an anime that I can think of, but I can't help but love it anyway. It's just so happy!

I forgot how ridiculous some of these fights turned out. Everyone suffers wounds that burst geysers of blood, but the main characters never really die. But Kenshin is too macho to kill people. He just knocks people out with the other side of his blade, I guess. So...he's like Batman, but he uses a fancy sword.

My big brother got me hooked on Rurouni Kenshin, the bad@$$ show about the fastest samurai alive (hell yeah). Although the show never finished the manga story, this show always ranked at around #15, just for how it kept me on the edge of my seat for...God, how many episodes? Anyways, up to the end of the whole Kyoto story arc...

Rurouni Kenshin is generally a great series that focuses on a few interesting themes, punctuated by cool fight scenes and strong relationships--both friendships and rivalries. Despite largely seeming to fall in the "historical fiction" genre, some of the lore is just categorically silly (e.g., Kenshin being able to move faster than the speed of light). But Kenshin is a deeply lovable character, simultaneously a half-witted klutz and an incredible warrior with unfaltering conviction. The worst thing about this series is that it was left unfinished. It apparently excludes the third and final story arc of the manga, instead following up on the excellent Kyoto arc with filler (although it's admittedly some of the best filler in the show... one episode involves an implied erotic dream). The full-length movies are supposed to be substitutes for this exclusion, but they're pretty bad and one of them is not even canon according to the series creator.

This is getting so good. Rather sad knowing that they didn't actually finish the anime though :(
