"The flames couldn't burn away my past. They only made the shadows behind me leap higher."

Mmmmm, delicious kitsch at its finest.

Max Payne 2 fixed many of the flaws the original had, offering a constantly fun and interesting game to play. However, something went seriously wrong with the development of areas the original excelled in. For some inexplicable reason, the quality of writing, voice acting and characters in general took such a hit that I was often asking myself if the devs were simply trolling their fans with this one. Mind you, this is still a great game, but it's not a great Max Payne game.
Pros: Strong, varied and really fun gameplay, great music, superb pacing, good level design, visuals hold well up to this day
Cons: Writing and voice acting verge on being a parody of the original, uninteresting story and characters

Score: 8.0 (Great!)

Story is more important than gameplay. And the story is good. Gameplay too.

Score: 10.0 (Classic!)
