Lunar: Eternal Blue (ルナ エターナルブルー, Runa Etānaru Burū?) is a role-playing video game developed by Game Arts and Studio Alex for the Sega CD as the sequel to Lunar: The Silver Star. The game was originally released in December 1994 in Japan, and later in North America in September 1995 by Working Designs. Eternal Blue is noted not only for expanding the story and gameplay of its predecessor, but for its enhanced use of the Sega-CD's hardware, including more detailed graphics, longer, more elaborate animated cutscenes, and more extensive use of voice acting. Critics were mostly pleased with the title, giving particular merit to the game's English translation and further expansion of the role-playing game genre in CD format.     Lunar 2 is like a long Disney epic. The cheerful tone might turn off anyone looking for a mature, intense experience. However, the massive scope of the entire journey easily surpasses everyone's expectations. Lunar 2's use of cutscenes was far ahead of its time. There's no other game that presents such a remarkable adventure, with tons of extras and special features.

    Right away I was impressed with the presentation of this game. The intro with its beautiful spritework and wistful music makes you want to lose yourself in the game world and for the most part the bar set there isn't lowered too much, despite the cheesy voice work and silly plot devices here and there. Gameplay-wise it's pretty solid, featuring an interesting battle system, a large world to explore and some surprisingly difficult bosses. I remember getting lost on the world map a few times, but that was probably my own fault. As for the localization, WD said it well: localization is more than just changing item names and translating a story word-for-word. It's about conveying what the game is saying and making the player feel something.
