I don't know what it is but I keep returning to this OST over and over. It's kinda broody and almost industrial sounding, which isn't super my type … but it's the nostalgia.

At one point in my life, I was convinced I beat Soul Reaver on the Dreamcast. Even marked it as owned and finished here. I went back to play the series....and I hardly recognize it. I recognize the main characters, the mechanics, the color palette, but none of the environments, enemies or bosses ring a bell at all. Worse off, playing this game in 2017 is cumbersome and clunky in my opinion, and I resorted to following the series via Youtube video. This is certainly one of those games that could use a remake/remaster.

Such a strange phenomenon. Did I just play so much of the demo that I thought I beat it? Did I actually beat it and just "brain omitted" much of it over time? Why can I remember the other games I've beat, but not this one? I'm confused.

Wonderful game. Should be remembered more than it is. Great story and characters, methodical gameplay, brilliant atmosphere.

@Pape Badiane, potential bug. I keep trying to edit this page by adding the 'roles' for the characters (protagonist for Raziel, antagonist for Kain, side character for Elder God), but each time the page is approved their roles end up blank - as you can see now.

It's weird, most of the music in Soul Reaver was basic ambient stuff, but this piece really stuck with me:

While combining gameplay elements from classic games like Pitfall and Mega Man in a new 3D environment, at the same time "Soul Reaver" offered elements that debatably revolutionized the industry: be it the streaming of levels (Grand Theft Auto III) or the sucking of souls (Onimusha).

The core element of this game however clearly is the story. Overall complex enough to span over five "Legacy Of Kain" games, the SR series alone is so engaging in its own that you can't help but applaud the makers of this game. And for good reason, because director and writer Amy Hennig took off and played a major role in yet another masterpiece, namely the Uncharted series.

The brilliant voice acting rounds it all up splendidly.
