Listening to #To Pimp a Butterfly & #Good Kid, M.A.A.D City recently have provided me a type of experience I've never had with music before. What was basically a casual hobby has now turned into something rather obsessive, especially with hip-hop. Both albums dramatically changed my opinion of the genre. It's far more complex then my previous ignorant mind thought. And what I've enjoyed most from this experience is taking the time to understand/learn as much as I can from them. I've had god knows how many repeats of both and still feel like that I'm coming away with something new - and to me that's amazing.

Basically thanks King Kendrick, you my boy and I find myself somewhat indebted to you for making me a little bit less ignorant.

Editing … You'd probably like To Pimp a Butterfly because of just how much 2pac influences it - so much so that I've seen people say that it is dedicated to him in a way. I'd say the album is much more then just that, but it is definitely there. For instance #The Blacker the Berry shares the name & ideas of the same Thurman novel that 2pac used as a bases for his song Keep Ya Head Up. Also I'm leaving out the huge part that 2pac plays in the albums narrative, but I'll let you figure that one out for yourself.

Editing … I loved #Untitled unmastered, fantastic stuff. Kendrick is a real powerhouse, I'm glad, I've followed him since 2010 or thereabouts, it's a great feeling watching him grow as an artist.

How is Kendrick Lamar so good? His rapping is incredibly melodic while still being sharp as a metronome and inventive in the rhythmic section. He is outstanding, surpassing all other rappers on basically all ways.

Editing … I have a hard time understanding how he is able to control his voice so well. There are only a few people I know that can do stuff like that, and they are all jazz singers, most specialized in scat singing.

Editing … Hey Not Important, I was looking for that thread where you was saying about Kendrick Lamar being able to rap fast but his words are perfectly clear, but I can't find it, so I'm here. I was just listening to some songs and this remeinded me of it, Frank Turner sings fast but perfectly clear, I can't keep up when I try to sing along with him: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RbNdwY4ujw

Editing … That's not really that fast though. I can sing that with a little practice. Not while playing the guitar, but I can sing on top of him as fast as he does after I memorize the words and the melody. Rapping or singing fast is a nice gimmick and it can be a good technical part of a song, but it's not what you can base music on. And that's why there is a lot more to Kendrick and to Frank Turner too. I'm not sure where you were aiming with this.

Editing … Frank Turner is one of our most talented singer/songwriters I think, but he goes under everybody's radar, he's virtually unknown to the general public. Have you heard anything else of his? I really love the covers he does live, like Dancing Queen and Mr Brightside, look them up on Youtube when you get time.

King Kendrick Lamar got the second most Grammy nominations in one night, 11, second only to Michael Jackson in 1984.
Breddy gud if I do say so myself. Hopefully he wins 11 of them, he damn sure deserves it.
