GameDev vet Jennifer Dawe telling the cold truth on sexism in the game industry.

I didn't know Jen was a game dev until today. Firion would just retweet cute stuff she posted XD

Now that i think about i believe its unfair to have the description of the page be linked to a clearly biased wiki page. I'm fine with leaving it up to

SpoilerGamergate (sometimes referred to as GamerGate or as a hashtag #gamergate) is a controversy in video game culture which began in August 2014. It concerns ingrained issues of sexism and misogyny in the gaming community, as well as journalistic ethics in the online gaming press, particularly conflicts of interest between video game journalists and developers.

Even though i believe the "It concerns ingrained issues of sexism and misogyny in the gaming community" is bullshit id leave it in for people who want to believe its about misogyny. I would rather have the journalistic ethics part first.

Editing … So you advocate revisionism and censorship simply because you don't agree with one article hosted on one of the top 10 most popular websites on the internet, nice. Wasn't the whole point of gamergate to further journalistic integrity? Why do you fail to see the irony here?

Look at the links under "Just getting up to speed with GamerGate?" on KotakuInAction if you want to know what is actually going on. GamerGhazi is the page that contains the opposite point of view so you can also look there is if you want to see what the 'other side' is saying.

If gamergate dissolved and switched names it would basically be saying that these lies were valid complaints. "Well none of this is true but we will change the name of our movement anyway." would not exactly be making a strong point. Here is some link I found where people are talking about changing the tag and the various reasons as to why it has not happened. http://www.reddit.com/r/KotakuInAction/comments/2jv6th/why_do_you_hold_on_to_the_gamergate_name/

Editing … If a sexist prick threatens women online and also claims to be a diehard supporter of the trade unions, does that mean trade unions are a movement about sexism? No, it just means there are sexist pricks in the world and they can have any political opinions the wish too. Hitler was a vegetarian, does that mean all vegetarians are nazi's? Exactly. Gamergate is about journalistic integrity, it has fuck all to do with sexism and feminism. Can these annoying professional victim feminist man-hating bitches kindly fuck off and stop making everything about them; and can the sexist pricks threatening, harrassing and stalking women online also fuck off and stop hiding behind our movement, YO DO NOT REPRESENT US YOU SKUM! Seriously, they even harrassed people like Felicia Day for fuck sake. A delightful, open, female gamer, who's done nothing but promote gaming and make fun media... If you're threatened by her thenwhat the hell is your problem?!

Editing … Yeah I see where you're coming from about the principle of not working around slander Louis but the thing is people who identified themselves as part of gamergate (not saying they represented it well but all the same) have been very sexist and coloured everyone's opinions of what gamergate is when gamergate was at what will probably end up being its peak in terms of publicity. Odds are the name's beyond saving but even if you disagree it'll be an uphill battle trying to redeem it and it makes more sense to be pragmatic and make a new name so you can campaign about gaming journalism more effectively.

Editing … Yes it does, and sadly many people on YouTube like TotalBiscuit, Angry Joe, Jim Stirling and Razorfist outright support gamergate in principle, but refuse to align themselves with the movement because sexist pricks and neo-feminist bitches took it upon themselves to usurp the movement. Listen to what they say and all four are prominent YouTubers who speak out against corruption in games media but none of the identity with gamergate... sad really, it means the trolls, bigots and arseholes won.

So now Felicia Day has had her personal information revealed. I was sceptical about the idea of rampant misogyny in gaming, yet they never seemed to target any of the male journalists with this doxxing crap. It's really turning into a fear campaign.

Editing … These pricks do not represent GamerGate. We're a movement for journalistic integrity and corporate honesty in video game coverage, nothing else. Felicia Day is a delightful person who has worked hard to fight against the negative "gamer" stereotypes and she does NOT deserve to be targetted by regressive sexist pricks still hoping the "no girlz" sign on their treehouse is acceptable. Anita Sarkeesian is a lying con-artist who actively shows her misandry and purposely works to marginalize gaming. Zoe Quinn is the gray area, she may have used her sex life to further her career but the facts are more and more muddy every day; regardless she didn't deserve the treatment she got. Felicia Day though... she's a lovely person who's never once distanced herself from the gaming community or taken advantage of it; she's one of us, how dare people do this shit to her.

There's people with a genuine concern in there but they have been swept in along with all this crap. These threats etc. are a genuine problem, there's been way too many of them now for it to just be a once off oddity.

"In order to clarify their message, members of Gamergate have seen to it that any individual who unfairly singles out the violent and bigoted aspects of the movement for criticism immediately becomes the target of sustained online harassment.

Needless to say, we don’t mean for that last sentence to sound like a criticism of Gamergate. We’d even go so far as to say that anybody critical of Gamergate probably had it coming, if that is better."

This article accurately reflects my dedication to something involving ethics in journalism.

This is what a no name journalist and supporter of Gamergate had to say in a recent article.

Spoiler" I've spent the last fortnight quietly soliciting the opinions not only of senior executives at AAA video game publishers, but also at some of the companies linked to GamerGate's boycotts and activism, such as Intel, Mercedes and BMW.

Perhaps it won't surprise you to learn that microchip manufacturers and car companies are pretty sympathetic to the concerns of male consumers. But some of the things said to me--all, sadly, on condition of anonymity--have been nothing short of remarkable.

There's the Intel vice president who told me via email that GamerGate was "doing great work" and that he was "sick of slander and self-loathing from the press". He was talking about male journalists who do misandrist feminists' work for them.

"I am pressing that team, it's not mine, but I am exerting influence when I can, to stop spending money with people who hate themselves and hate our clients," he added by phone later. "

Hilarious and very believable. I especially liked the part where he compromised the identity of the VP of #Intel.
