You ever weird yourself out? I just realized that I find A Boy Named Charlie Brown darker than The Shining.

"A sad story is not necessarily a tragedy when in writing. Tragedy involves the downfall or failure of the main character. This again, does not mean that they die—the tragedy can lie in the failure to achieve something they have worked for through the whole story. The build-up to such a thing and the eventual failure is what the tragedy is."
So this movie is like the exact definition of a tragedy.

What a depressing children's movie. Charlie Brown is basically the poster child for emo, a person who has little confidence and fails at everything and wishes he could stop having hope so that his hopes wouldn't have to be crushed all the time. A spelling bee story is as generic as it gets, except for the lack of a happy ending. Charlie wishes he could stay in bed the rest of his life (what kid hasn't?), but hope sadly finds him again, and he leaves the house and finds a spot of happiness and confidence only to have it crushed again. Such is the life of an emo kid. (P.S. I like the animation and songs and some of the humor.)
