So, two versions of each (character/person) list, eh? … And where do we put trans people in this restrictive, non-accurate representation?

Editing … There are people who identify as agender or some third gender, but unless someone can not only point to a singer who can't be fit into the male/female binary but also say that they want to rank this singer and there isn't anywhere to put them, I don't see it as a concern.

Editing … Non-binary genders have existed in other cultures for hundreds if not thousands of years, whether cis westerners "buy into" them or not. I agree with Richard, but also with Shige's suggestion that some non-binary erasure is occurring in the way a lot of these lists are set up

Editing … Also people need to be able to indicate "nonbinary" and/or "genderqueer" and/or "other" for their personal profile info on this site if they can't already. I had a friend who wanted to join but didn't partially because she is neither a man nor a woman and didn't feel comfortable indicating either of those two options.

Editing … I think the option "other" should definitely be used. I don't care about genders all that much, and it wouldn't bother me if male wasn't an option, but I understand that it might bother some, and I see absolutely no downside for including people.

Editing … Though, even I failed to see the real issue here: What difference does it even make, male/female – particularly in this list? Are we ranking based on looks or their vocal skills? If anything, we should have the four lists Favorite Alto/Bass/Tenor/Soprano Vocalists instead of Male/Female …

Editing … We already have a list based on looks. This one is based on vocal skills (Favorite Vocalists). For the Favorite Gaming Art style list, you did not ask if you should rank based on technical features... Anyway, sublists (Alto/Bass/Tenor/Soprano) will come eventually. These will probably be mixed though, I'm not 100% sure. I'll ask the people passionate about this subject.

Editing … Other than that, the challenge with voice types is that the terminology differs based on context. Soprano/Alto/Tenor/Bass is for choral music. Soprano/Mezzo-Soprano/Contralto/Countertenor/Tenor/Baritone/Bass is for classical music. In other music, it's pretty much like classical except that countertenors are just called tenors.

Editing … So if this list is based on vocal skills @Papissama then why aren't males and females comparable enough to share the same list? This isn't like sport where men and women (mostly) play separately and it's hard to compare.
