Burnout Paradise offers a whole continuous city to cruise in which is fairly odd for a racing game, but the developers of Criterion Games dared to innovate and combined street racing with sandbox gameplay. The result is phenomenal.

Whether you're driving to reach the 1st place; to bash other vehicles; to beat a time or crash record on the many streets; or just to drift relaxingly along while you enjoy the radio / soundtrack - which is a blast, btw - this game delivers a colossal unequaled overall experience.

Although sometimes lacking a tutorial, the multiplayer mode is realized in an exceedingly accessible drop-in / drop-out fashion that *begs* of you to drive in company. The multiple DLC pieces excellently elongated the experience.
