Well, I said I was gonna go full on into the Visual Novel genre this year, and it's already May, so now seems as good a time as any to make good on my promise :P Steam was having an anime sale, so I picked up a couple. http://store.steampowered.com/sale/anime_sale/

#Clannad seemed to be one of the most recommended. Anybody on here played/read it? I hear it's meant to pack a pretty emotional punch. Looking forward to reading through this one. I'm due a good cry :')

Editing … I've never played Clannad but I've heard good things even if those girls do look like chihuahuas.

Editing … I watched like ten episodes of the anime or something. It was very unmemorable.

Editing … You tried it? Or are you asking if I've tried it? Because I thought it was great and it's the game that got me into visual novels in the first place. So if you haven't, you should totally give it a shot. It's defos NSFW though :P

Editing … Katawa Shoujo is one I need to get around to someday. The only visual novels I've really tried are Hotel Dusk and 999, the former of which I really liked.

Editing … I still wanna get Hotel Dusk. The only thing putting me off is it's on DS, and I hate the DS/3DS with a passion. I'll get it at some point though.

Editing … Yea, I found it through Youtube. It came as a recomendation by a youtuber I was subscribed to. He reviewed the first Act and it seemed interesting, so I grabbed the game when it released in full :)

Editing … "I hate the DS/3DS with a passion" That's a real shame. Is it having to look at two different screens or the touch screen or the shape or what?

Editing … Mainly the touch control. I don't like the idea of having to switch back and forth between the stylus and the face buttons. Also my general hatred of touch screens in general :P The lack of a second analog really bugs the crap out of me as well. It's the same complaint I always had with the PSP. The shape is a big issue too. I just do not find it comfortable. I rarely play for more than a couple of hours before it gets too bothersome and I put it aside. I think I've played the 3DS the least out of every system I have ever owned.

Editing … Yeah, I found the touch screen pretty gimmicky. The only exception is Etrian Odyssey. Drawing that map was cool. I could live without touch screens in general though. I remember the first time I used one in a store and I was immediately like "FUCK this" It always bugged me when people complained about the PSP only having one analog stick because it feels like they would have complained less if there had been no analog sticks. The only portable game I can remember playing where I really felt like I needed a second analog stick was Monster Hunter though, and those controls are supposed to suck to create challenge, as pretentious as that is. Shame about the shape. Happy it doesn't bother me.

Editing … The touch screen is extremely useful for a lot of games though. It's the best interface there is for point and click adventure and turn based strategy, and other games where you'd historically use a mouse. And there are a lot of those games on the DS! :)

Editing … Eh, I guess. My first turn based strategy game was Final Fantasy Tactics, so I've never thought of using touch controls for that stuff, or for selecting anything from a menu ever when I don't have to, and I'm not sure if I'll ever really like a point and click game. To be fair though, thinking about it, I guess I'm happy my phone has a touch screen, but thank God it also has a full keypad and I don't have to type on the touch screen.

Editing … Yeah typing is terrible. If the DS had a keyboard you could hook up to it it would be the ultimate gaming device. :D
