Please don't jump on me and collectively beat me to a pulp, but I really don't like this movie. I have no idea why, because I *should*. It has all the ingredients that would normally warrant the Micky Z Seal Of Approval - it's one of the most successful movies of the New Hollywood era, it's got great performance by De Niro and Walken, it was the first Vietnam movie to be taken seriously (AFAIK), etc, etc, and yet it doesn't click with me. I have no idea why.

Editing … My parents got a copy of it on VHS long after blu-ray already existed. It's a long ass movie so it was on two tapes like Titanic.

Editing … Those two-tape movies are always ones to avoid. I did like this movie kind of, it's not Cleopatra or Ten Commandments bad, but it's still clearly a two-tape movie.

Editing … Google it donkey, it was definitely a thing. You could get 6 hours on a 3 hour vhs tape by slowing it down or whatever they did.

Editing … Oh, is that why there were blank VHS tapes of different lengths? Cause I know the 6 hour ones were less high quality than the shorter ones, but gave you a lot more room to put crap on so we always used them. We had a two deck VCR so we'd rent movies and tape them. That's how I saw most Disney stuff. It's also how Digimon became one of my top 5 shows.

Editing … I knew VHS started before the 90s, I just meant that was its height. I imagine they were expensive and not everyone had one when they first came out. I remember what a luxury item blu-ray players and iphones started out as.
