Castle of Illusion (remake) was obviously a passion project for the devs, who not only loved the original classic, but also understood what made it special. That is why, they not only retained the spirit of the original, but at the same time improved upon it greatly in ways that make sense and feel like a natural extension of the original.
Pros: A shining example of a remake-done-right, absolutely delightful visuals, charming Disneyesque score, excellent boss fights, great level design, variety and creativity in scenery and gameplay, lovely writting and voice acting, overall good platforming, neat little touches
Cons: Occasionally it's difficult to judge a distance and the platforms are frequently narrow so it's easy to miss them and fall, the zoomed-in camera is problematic at times, feels rushed towards the end, slightly disappointing cutscenes, framerate dips
