#Alan Wake and his wife, Alice, arrive at #Bright Falls, where they stay at the cabin on #Cauldron Lake-- a place inhabited by #The Dark Presence, and where art becomes reality. When the darkness takes Alice into the lake, Alan must write a story to set her free, but in doing so he creates a paradox.
SpoilerHe writes himself into his story, as the protagonist. He cannot cheat by writing "Alan kills the Darkness and Alice is free," as that is not how the lake works. He must write a story.
In the story, a poet named #Thomas Zane was the former owner #Bird Leg Cabin, and he too became aware of the Dark Presence. In an attempt to defeat it, he wrote a story about Alan as a child. In this way, Thomas Zane created Alan.
But Alan wrote Thomas Zane into his story, so it's very possible that he created Zane, and wrote his own creation into... wait...
so what I meant to say is that Thomas Zane wrote that Alan would write Zane into... wait, hold on...
Alan wrote Zane to write... fuck, what?
