A bit bare bones and short compared to some later games in the series, but streamlined and without much unnecessary features. I greatly prefer this to FireRed. It feels much more right with the 8 bit graphics and sound, which are quite charming. Although some little details would be improved later on, like being able to see what moves do, the formula was already quite solid and enjoyable.
