Saved!WHY IS THIS SONG SO FUCKING ADDICTING?!
It's like... you accidentally listen to 5 seconds of it. BAM! In your head for the rest of time.-
Saved!NodleyEditing … Not for me this one. It's not rocky enough.
-
Saved!MasterCrashEditing … Also, randomly generated playlist decides to play "Storms in Africa" by #Enya right after playing this.
-
Saved!MasterCrashEditing … Well, it's hard rock. Maybe it's not grungy enough tho :P
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … Ah Enya. Every song sounds exactly like the last. You'd never mistake one of her songs for somebody else.
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … Hard rock?!! Balls it is. It's girl band pop material.
-
Saved!MasterCrashEditing … It's 80's glam rock. Embrace it.
-
Saved!ErektionsiteEditing … Get with the times old man.. With this 80's rock song... Yeah screw you oldie!
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … Never. Some grunge band should cover it though, improve it.
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … I grew up in the 80s, and it was just as crap then as it is now!
-
Saved!ErektionsiteEditing … Also, this song is the essence of easy-listen, cheesy rock and I love it (Craggle)!
-
Saved!MasterCrashEditing … I wouldn't mind a Foo Fighters version of it, to be honest
-
Saved!ErektionsiteEditing … If you grew up with it and it sucks that means you suck as well. Shut up that's how things work!
-
Saved!Gries HeEditing … Toto. Hard Rock. Does not compute.
-
Saved! Not ImportantEditing … Africa is hilarious because it's not the Toto singer singing it if I recall correct. It's their manager who was showing the singer "how it's done".
-
Saved!ErektionsiteEditing … Well, Ill'be damned. Wikipedia classify them as soft rock... Is that even a thing?!
-
Saved!MasterCrashEditing … Every rock band was hard rock back in the 80s. The reverse is true now in which no band is hard rock, every rock band is alternative rock. Which is funny because they're not an alternative to anything by now. Genres are fun.
-
Saved! Not ImportantEditing … Nirvana literally saved rock music. It's fantastic.
-
Saved!MasterCrashEditing … When I think soft rock I think of pop rock? I think it's the same thing. Coldplay, The Fray , OneRepublic, etc...
-
Saved! Not ImportantEditing … I don't think Coldplay or OneRepublic really can be categorized under rock. But then again genre limits are really hard.
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … I have no idea how genres work. Even if I say I like punk somebody says "which type?" and lists off all these fucking different types of punk. Shut up, I don't care, it's just punk.
-
Saved!Dr EggnogEditing … That was pleasant. I wish I got to hear this stuff all day at work instead of rap.
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … Oh no, stop listening donkey, it's rubbish. Rap is better.
-
Saved! Not ImportantEditing … When I think pop rock I think post 90's Green Day, Paramore and Fall Out Boy.
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … Don't Fallout Boy and Green Day fall into the punk category too? Pop Punk or something? See, it's really confusing!
-
Saved!MasterCrashEditing … The reason why there's so many genres is because there's always gonna be someone that'll be like "Oh, Coldplay isn't rock" or "Oh, Green Day isn't punk". Even though they are. They grab the genre and try to add a bit more of a mainstream appeal, but it's still the same genre. Coldplay is heavily influenced in Queen and U2 for example, and I never saw anybody say "Queen or U2 aren't rock bands".
-
Saved!Michael ZEditing … By jove, I go away for 20 minutes and in my absence Africa by Toto sparks an epic, epic debate.
-
Saved!Dr EggnogEditing … "Rap is better" The only music I like rap more than is dubstep, and that's only because rap is easier to ignore cause it doesn't have those loud random noises.
-
Saved! Not ImportantEditing … Sure they are influenced, but I have a hard time thinking about the ways Coldplay is a rock band. But I guess it is.
-
Saved!MasterCrashEditing … Green Day is Pop Punk. Fall Out Boy is... harder to categorise. I guess they're kinda punk, they are also a bit emo, it's eh... it's hard, lets go with Pop Punk, sure.
-
Saved!Michael ZEditing … Oh, and Fall Out Boy are the worst thing ever. EVER.
-
Saved! Not ImportantEditing … I love you Michael. Would you like to become gay and marry me?
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … Coldplay are pop, we had this argument before :P
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … Donkey guy, I was joking, rap is the worst thing ever. Well, except for Coldplay of course.
-
Saved!MasterCrashEditing … Then so is Queen.
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … I don't like Queen much, or U2. I dunno what my taste is called, if those bands are rock then I need to stop saying I like rock.
-
Saved!Dr EggnogEditing … I heard this on the Zaxbys radio in December and it's the worst. It's more embarrassingly one note than a PBS Kids song. This woman wants to fuck snow. https://youtu.be/DQ9cxfumEOo
-
Saved! Not ImportantEditing … Older Coldplay is poprock for sure. Things like Daylight have to fall under softrock/poprock. But I can't think of Viva La Vida or Sky Full of Stars as rock.
-
Saved!Dr EggnogEditing … Or maybe this is the worst I've ever heard. https://youtu.be/sCzeMuMxXQ8
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … Viva La Vida is the only Coldplay song I'd ever listen to out of choice.
-
Saved!Michael ZEditing … Coldplay kinda started off as post-Britpop, which apparently is a valid genre.
-
Saved!MasterCrashEditing … You like Alternative rock, from what I can tell, Nod. I think Viva La Vida as a pop rock album. Sky Full of Stars is a Skrillex song with the guy from Coldplay in the vocals, it barely counts. I really like Coldplay and I dislike that song.
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … "post-Britpop" Now there's a pointless genre if ever I saw one.
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … Btw, I saw Erektion has a post up too and you all are commenting on that. But I can hardly keep up with the notifications from the cheese post and this one. Stupid Favslist! Fix the site goddammit!
-
Saved!Dr EggnogEditing … I like The Decemberists and Yes. Those are like alternative or progressive or indie rock or something. Too many genres. I like the kind of rock that plays in old Tony Hawk games. I grew up hearing The Who, The Kinks, and The Beatles, and that's the first stuff I think of when I think music.
-
Saved!Michael ZEditing … Well, Britpop was exclusively a mid-90s thing, before the Spice Girls and Simon Cowell came along and killed music.
-
Saved! Not ImportantEditing … A thing you didn't know; Toto's Africa is the go to song of me and my mate to sing from the bottom of our lungs while watching football.
-
Saved!Dr EggnogEditing … Luckily I didn't post in the cheese "thread" so I have manageable notifications.
-
Saved!MasterCrashEditing … Yes is prog rock. Egg, if you like them you may like #Genesis as well.
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … You know what this world needs? More Blues influenced rock!
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … Here's some better music for you all. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHrRPLHRgDA
-
Saved!Dr EggnogEditing … Genesis bookmarked.
-
Saved!ErektionsiteEditing … I just had 42 notifications. A new record for me!
-
Saved!MasterCrashEditing … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2Fnet0y9Ts
-
Saved!Dr EggnogEditing … Those Monster Truck guys have good voices, I like em. That'd be good music for any non-cutesy racing game, or some kind of competition montage.
-
Saved!Dr EggnogEditing … Only watched a little of that Darkest Days song. Dude sounds like he was trying to sound sexy. And I was like "I'm a guy."
-
Saved!MasterCrashEditing … I can assure you that, even if that was the case, he was not trying to sound sexy for you.
-
Saved!Dr EggnogEditing … Monster Truck guy sounded rough and country. That was good. Decemberists guy sounds odd and quirky. So does Ponky, as well as operetic. Yes guy sounds high pitched. I think Ponky has my favorite singing voice ever: https://youtu.be/khdVse_ZoBA (Trigger warming: ponies)
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … Glad you like Monster Truck Donkey. I have tons of what I call "rock music" to share with you guys sometime. It's better than that pop crap some people call rock ;)
-
Saved!Michael ZEditing … This is clearly the best song ever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZjmliqhZ-c
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … How do you even know of this song? Guilty pleasure?
-
Saved!MasterCrashEditing … This comment on that video: "This song saved me from suicide. I shot my ipad with my pistol and it ran out of bullets."
-
Saved!ErektionsiteEditing … Sometimes the youtube comments are fun. Sometimes..
-
Saved!Dr EggnogEditing … That is literally no worse to me than the majority of music videos I have seen in my life
-
Saved!MasterCrashEditing … I think the problem isn't the video... It's the: "Mhuuuumhhhhuuuuhhhmmmhuuuhh Macarron" part :I
-
Saved!Dr EggnogEditing … Well I said music video, as in both music and video. Sounded no more shitty than most rap I hear.
-
Saved!MasterCrashEditing … Well, I dislike most rap so I won't even argue with you there xD The only exception is in Nu-Metal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3L4YrGaR8E4
-
Saved! Not ImportantEditing … I get triggered by your hate of rap. Obviously there is a LOT of bad rap. Incredible amounts. But there is good rap that combines the best qualities of poetry and music, with the rapper himself doing more than just "talking the words" over music.
-
Saved!MasterCrashEditing … I don't HATE rap. It just doesn't do it for me. When I listen to a rapper that I genuinely like, I'll tell you. So far I haven't found it. I guess the closest is Eminem which I think it's alright, but I don't go out of my way to listen to him.
-
Saved! Not ImportantEditing … I get triggered by your dislike of rap. Obviously there is a LOT of bad rap. Incredible amounts. But there is good rap that combines the best qualities of poetry and music, with the rapper himself doing more than just "talking the words" over music.
-
Saved!Dr EggnogEditing … That Bulls on Parade song would make good Tony Hawk music. I guess I don't HATE rap music either. I mean, when it plays at work I'm not in pain or anything. But I prefer no music to rap music for sure.
-
Saved!MasterCrashEditing … I mean, I disliked #To Pimp a Butterfly, what did you think of that album?
-
Saved!MasterCrashEditing … I think Bulls on Parade IS a Tony Hawk song xD I know for sure the band has some of their songs on the Tony Hawks games, but I don't know if that's one of them.
-
Saved!Dr EggnogEditing … I probably classify multiple genres of rock as "Tony Hawk music" when I hear it.
-
Saved!MasterCrashEditing … Okay, it was Guerrilla Radio, but same band: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADFhiXzBeRg
-
Saved!Dr EggnogEditing … To think of the old people complaining about that sort of music not knowing how much worse things were going to get. Like how Pat said he wouldn't have complained so much about Tidus and Yuna had he known XIII was coming.
-
Saved! Not ImportantEditing … I loved #To Pimp a Butterfly. It was incredible rich and inventive musically, combining elements that have never been combined in such harmony. Kendrick's lyrics were absolutely outstanding and his flow is unmatched by all. It's my favorite album.
-
Saved!MasterCrashEditing … Yet, it still didn't do it for me. I'm not even trying to argue if it's a good or bad album. Just from a purely subjective view, it didn't do anything for me. There was no pleasure in the experience nor have I felt the need to relisten to any track of the album since then, not even the two tracks I did like King Kunta and I.
-
Saved! Not ImportantEditing … Yeah, I'm not really saying you should like it. But I really do.
-
Saved!MasterCrashEditing … I was just trying to illustrate the point that my disliking of rap may not have to do with the fact that I didn't listen to "good" rap, but just that the genre isn't for me.
-
Saved! Not ImportantEditing … Yeah I get that, I just can't seem to wrap my head around the fact that a person can dislike an entire genre with such diversity.
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … It's not for me either. I'd rather listen to post-Britpop.
-
Saved!Gries HeEditing … Stop talking already ffs
-
Saved!MasterCrashEditing … Like I said, there might be a rapper than I like, and I just haven't found it.
-
Saved! Not ImportantEditing … Nod I get your love of post-Britpop, but I myself more prefer such distinct genres as adult contemporary.
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … Yeah? Well I like post hardcore grunge metal thrash pop punk if it leans slightly towards britpop soft rock blues.
-
Saved!MasterCrashEditing … I like Industrial Jungle Pussy Punk. It's a genre according to Last FM!
-
Saved!Michael ZEditing … I'm more of a wonky techno fella meself, though I have been known to get jiggy to some Hypnagogic Pop, whatever that is.
-
Saved! Not ImportantEditing … Russian Blues-Trance transfusion all the way.
-
Saved!Michael ZEditing … "How do you even know of this song? Guilty pleasure?" There's no guilt to be felt about the macharon chacharon. Great for torturing annoying neighbours. Plenty more where that came from.
-
Saved! Not ImportantEditing … There is only love.
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … yikes, glad I didn't comment here. I'd hate to get all those notifications
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … oh, shit
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … I heard shit, rubbish, turd and crap are all sub genres of rap.
