Quite possibly the slickest movie I've ever seen! Less than 5 minutes in and I could see I was going to enjoy this. I've never seen a film with so much character from the offset. Zatoichi ticked all the right boxes for me. Drama, action, comedy, excitement, it had it all. A man of few words, Zatoichi nonetheless shows a good deal of personality and humour throughout. He's as classic a hero as you can get and it took me back to the 80's action films I loved growing up (my fave genre). Several of the scenes don't make a whole lot of sense if I'm being honest and really only serve as an excuse to set up fight scenes. I didn't care :P Every fight in the film was filled with visual flair and action. Fantastic, fantastic movie :D It probably won't be to everyone's taste, but given my movie preferences, this movie couldn't have been more tailor-made for me :)

P.S That final scene is absolutely barmy and doesn't fit with the film at all, but I loved it!! :P
