Editing … I have to "shamefully" admit that I played FF8, and I didn't love it. I liked it. It was good, but after playing 6, 7 and Tactics and being hyped as hell, it just fell a bit flat.

Editing … It's the third in the Holy Trinity. It's not for everyone, many simply don't understand it at all (and lots of so-called "modern age gaymurr" scrubs especially). Ivalice should not be brought into this comparison, tho. Because it's not a part of Holy Trinity. It is it's own kind of an animal altogether. It's rated separately from "numerical" FFs. It shouldn't be even compared with Final Fantasy XII, even though they're same universe. If yoiu wish to compare Final Fantasy Tactics with something, compare it with Fire Emblem, Vandal Hearts, Ogre Battle, Hoshigami, Saiyuki, Shining Force trilogy and etc. Personally, even though I always loved all three members of the Holy Trinity with an equal passion, I always preferred the absolutely top-notch PERFECTION that is Final Fantasy VIII, over FF VII. And don't misunderstand me on this - Final Fantasy VIII is not even remotely close to being my very first "FF"-branded game ever played (that was FF V), so I'm not affected by the globally-spread disease known as "pink nostalgia glasses".

Editing … Well, even I wouldn't go as far as to put it at the very top of my personal "most favorite RPGs" list, mainly due to the fact that I've played a true sh*tton of games in those 28 years of me being a gamer, so I've really seen things you people wouldn't believe, I've played some sh*t that would turn you white. Like tears in the rain. But it's at the solid 4-th place nonetheless, yes. Also - it's quite funny to see that you've rated "Terror From The Deep" (just outright LOLWUT?) higher than it WHILE putting Episode 5 higher than X-COM, in your list of "Top 50 all-time favorite games". That's just hilarious.

Editing … VIII was an ambitious game, and I have a huge respect for games like that. Many things it tried to do didn't work at all, the junction system is downright broken and that idea of monsters being the same level as you was stupid IMO, but at least it was interesting. It was a game worth playing, that tried to accomplish something and introduce new concepts and ideas to the genre. It's WAAAAAY better than the colossal piece of shit that was X!

Editing … Nice try, but no cigar. Especially about Junction and leveling enemies. I've already said before that there are people out there who absolutely didn't get Final Fantasy VIII and didn't/refused to understand jack about how this game works and thus immediately deemed it bad basing their so-called "opinions" just on that, out of sheer laziness and total inability to read and learn (this is especially cringe-inducing simply because game has detailed built-in tutorials on pretty much 9 out of 10 aspects of gameplay mechanics it offers). And it looks like you're not much different from those people, since you're actually in all seriousness calling Junction "broken" and leveling monsters "stupid" (this is outright LAUGHABLE, considering that: a) they level only with Squall. Don't level Squall = enemies don't level. This is not even remotely close to being the very first RPG ever that did this mechanic in such a way, but nooo, let's all deem FF VIII a crappy game because of that and because we didn't understand jack about any of it. b) Only randomly encountered enemies level, not scripted or story-based ones. c) Loot dropped by enemies differs depending on their levels, as well as magic spell quality and it's combinations they might have, and ALSO their behavior and tactics i.o.w - T-Rexaur of level 20 and T-Rexaur of level 88 behaves absolutely differently. Again - FF VIII wasn't the first RPG to do it this way, but it sure does suck because of this and because it doesn't use "classical fantasy J-RPG grindan" shtick, huh. Rrright, shuuure. Whatever makes you feel better. d) Tonberry and LV UP/LV DOWN = your "argument" is automatically invalid, end of discussion, you lose, have a good day sir).

Editing … Again, this clearly denotes (since it's 2016 and you didn't knew about this FOR ALL THESE YEARS) that there's some very serious case of laziness/refusal to learn going on in there. And there's truly A LOT of such people out there, trashing FF VIII for things it absolutely didn't deserve to be trashed for, but they keep on trashing simply to feel better/more secure about themselves, due to the fact they're just LAZY to learn.

Editing … On one thing I'll do agree with Gries - games ARE seriousness business. When you actually LOVE them with a passion. I do. So I can't sit and say nothing when I see one of THE best J-RPG games EVER MADE getting bullied for things it absolutely didn't deserve to be bullied for. It's like watching an angry mob of people to burn Jeanne d'Arc on a stake. I will NOT sit and just listen to her painful cries, while you're all will be spewing out curses and laughing at her burning. FF VIII is my personal Jeanne d'Arc.

Teasing is what you do with individual people you know well, not a bunch of near strangers online, or at least that's how I see it, and I only tease when I know for sure the person I'm doing it to will get the joke.
