(This post contains what may be considered minor spoilers.) This was a cute and enjoyable movie with Studio Ghibli's usual superb animation, imagination, and charm. That said, it doesn't compare to the likes of #Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi and #Mononoke-hime, both of which demonstrated considerable character development and marked conflicts that drove the stories. By contrast, Arrietty's plot boils down to "tiny girl befriends sick boy; tiny girl doesn't fit into sick boy's world; tiny girl and sick boy must part ways." So, it's passable and cute as a children's film, but not my favorite Ghibli film by any means.
