My first thought was to rant about the unhistorical plot, as Japan had prussian advisers, not these colonial rebells. As this fact and Tom Cruise are the only things i dislike in this flick, i really enjoyed it overall. At the end i am even tempted to think the existence of an american gave this movie some flavor, as a prussian advisor would have never made such stupid decisions! Suprises are more entertaining...
Edit: According my researches was the guy "represented" by T. Cruise a frenchie, of course his behavior not even close to the movie!
