The Ghost in the Shell TV series was already brilliant, but 2nd Gig turned it into a masterpiece. Director Kenji Kamimiya switches the focus to a group of extremist refugees, fighting against oppression in a heartbreaking tragedy of epic proportions. The whole scenario of season two is so real that it hurts. In fact, Kamimiya's script almost seems to have predicted the future of terrorism in a surreal cybernetic world.
