A surprisingly great J-RPG with a number of it's own interesting mechanics and quirks/nuances. It's a very solid "Ranma 1/2"-based game if you take into consideration that 8 out of 10 "Ranma 1/2"-based licensed games out there are not really all that good. This game might seem average to anyone who compares this to other (much better) Super Famicom J-RPGs out there, but it's an undeniable fact that if you're comparing this to the other "Ranma 1/2"-based licensed games out there ONLY then Akenodan is simply THE best "Ranma 1/2"-based game ever released out there so far. There are two translation patches available (with "Anime"-style translation and with "Manga"-style translation) out there, so if you're planning on playing this and you don't know Japanese language (personally, I've played it both through original cartridge on the original console and via emulation with translation patches applied), then it's highly advised that you check on those. This game is not the best J-RPG ever made out there, but it's THE best "Ranma 1/2"-based licensed game, that's for sure.
