    It Follows is pure mastery of the horror genre. In a world where the genre is oversaturated with copycats, David Robert Mitchell's 2nd outing stands out brightly. Which is a bit ironic as it itself is sort of a copycat. Mitchell borrows heavily, and I mean heavily, from John Carpenter's genre defining Halloween; outside of the narrative the films are near identical. And you know what? I love it. Why? because it shows that Mitchell understand what made Halloween so genre defining. It Follows isn't a film of jump scares, its goal isn't to go boo in the shadows; it's ambition reaches farther then that. It's goal is to install dread & fear into its audience, to make something that gets under your skin. And boy does it. It Follows is certainly something you'll soon not forget, it is horror at its finest. Dripping with atmosphere & rich in tension, Mitchell's film is easily one of the horror genre's best.
