I enjoy Fear and Loathing & I hate Fear and Loathing. After two viewings that all I really got for it. It works, It doesn't; It's good, It's bad. Fear and Loathing is really the only film I've ever seen that I truly feel exists in a void. I cannot say it's a good film because I don't believe it is. There is no direction to it, has little in the character department, and the narrative is really nothing more then the jumbled, rambling, nonsense of a man doped out beyond all comprehension. It is, however, those very things that make Fear and Loathing such an interesting experience. It's like we're really in the drugged out mind of Hunter S. Thompson & are given a glimpse of a life that we really cannot understand; like we're just along for the crazy ride that is Hunter S. Thompson's life. Again, It works, It doesn't; It's good It's bad. I just don't feel right praising the film nor does it feel right to condemn the film; it's the epitome of the cult film genre. Fear and Loathing is the type of film experience that everyone needs to have at least one in there life, for good or bad. It's a trip to say the least.
