So much missed potential here. The first hour sets it up as being a very honest and human look into the life of a closet lesbian coming out, but that plot point is quickly pushed aside. Instead, the film is filled with 45 minutes too many scenes of her doing everyday activities with nothing all that interesting happening. What is this, Boyhood (lmaoooo)? There's also a bit too much of an emphasis on sex scenes, but it doesn't take away from the film all that much. Instead of focusing on Adele's struggles for social acceptance, we see her desire more and more for sexual relief and how that is effecting her relationship with Emma. This is done really well, but I felt it would've been a ton more interesting to focus on the former. Yet, this movie still contains some of the most naturally human characters put on screen, all of which are portrayed accurately and effectively by their actors.
