One of the most comforting albums I've ever heard. Listening to this record makes me feel so warm and safe, not only because of the emotion-drenched lyrics, but also because of the fragile and light sonic appeal. It saddens me to see what emo has become in the public eye. It isn't about highlighting the darkness in the world or an irrationally pessimistic outlook, it's about being in touch with one's emotions. Nowhere is this more prominent than in American Football's s/t. It highlights all the best of the genre's diversity while still maintaining what makes the genre so appealing in the first place. This album just makes me want to hug someone I care about for a long time, and that's a good feeling to have.
