Though called "Dream Land 2," this game had to follow up both the original and Kirby's Adventure on the NES, which greatly expanded the series scope with Kirby's copy abilities. So this game's topping even that was a great feat. Dream Land 2 has far less abilities than Adventure, but its set of animal friends Kirby teams up with all alter the gameplay and abilities in significant ways. The same level can be an aerial shooter, a Sonic-like speedrun, or a simple romp as Kirby depending on who he brought along. The presence of a secret ending also added depth.
