Editing … A pointless sequel to a perfectly good indie monster film :c (the director of the first one also being the director of the upcoming Star Wars: Rogue One)

Editing … At least the proposed director is semi-promising. And Hideo will be behind the project every step of the way, so it shouldn't turn out too bad if it gets made...hopefully.

Editing … This will likely never see the light of day. Just like any other movie adapation of a videogame IP that's been announced. Projects like that seem to be stuck in development hell forever.

Editing … "In May 2006, Hideo Kojima announced that a film adapation of MGS was in development". That was nine years ago and there's still no movie. q.e.d.

Editing … There are always exceptions to the rule. I for one am still waiting for a movie adaption of Bioshock, Uncharted and Assassin's Creed.

Editing … The Last of Us, Red Dead and Bioshock probably have the most potential as films. Great stories you could condense without losing the major beats or diluting the premise. In my book Uncharted is gaming's answer to Indiana Jones so I don't think we need an adaptation of it. Part of me would love to see a Mass Effect film but I'm not sure they could pull it off. It'd be a really hard story to scale down from 20 hours to 2, they'd have to cut/diminish major characters and the story'd have to be massively simplified rather than just condensed. With ME2 it'd be worse, way too many main characters for a film to include. A Mass Effect TV show on the other hand.....
