Ratatouille was Pixar at its best. After featuring humans prominently for the first time in The Incredibles, Pixar combined its new mastery of human depictions with rodents that were a staple of CGI. Not only did Pixar combine two points of view better than any predecessors, they used this mixture to tell a fitting tale. Ratatouille is ultimately a metaphor about how the greatest can come from the most humble backgrounds, with the "rat in the kitchen" simply being the most blatant example available. Pixar showed their love of the setting, cuisine, and characters they created. The one notable flaw of the film is the lack of a focus on a single antagonist, but even this can reflect certain aspects of the story, which shows two partners surpassing their old limitations.
