Music to conquer the world to. Early tracks provide a decent background for your early economic growth, later music matches the tensions of battle, and all of it is in the style of Medieval cultures. It remains in the background for the most part, quietly making every mundane moment seem more monumental. That one Scottish-sounding theme in the middle of the soundtrack fits pretty much any situation in the game, being active enough for a battle, soothing enough for peace, and busy enough to keep one active.
