Of all the Cid incarnations, this one is the most crazy awesome. Along with creating a number of new transportation options, this Cid scans enemies for weaknesses and smashes them with a hammer. At one point in the story, he helps the party escape by leaping out of his airship with a bomb to block the enemy attack by destroying some geography visible from the world map. Unlike SOME playable characters, who die in canon when they get stabbed a single time, Cid naps it off for a while before going back to upgrading the heroes' airship some more. He also takes the opportunity to build a new fleet of airships to destroy a mech the size of a mountain.

Oh, and he's 54. And has a crazy beard. And he can help beat the final boss in some re-releases of the game.
