I like my platformers simple and straight forward. And DKC: Tropical Freeze takes the tried-and-true formula platformers and shines it perfection. On top of consistently clever and varied level design, the game has perfect level of tough but fair difficulty and pretty environments. You can't talk about Tropical Freeze without mentioning the triumphant return of David Wise (who had a big hand in making the first DKC trilogy so memorable). His score is able to convey so much emotion and personality into the game, and really elevates it above most other games in the genre. The boss fights and great too, Bashmaster in particular being one of the best boss fights I've played in years.

It's easy to overlook this game as yet another 2D platformer, but this one is special and a must own for any Wii U owners.
