As a complete counter to Uchuu Kyoudai not being a very stereotypical anime NGNL is a really 'anime' show. I'll just quote Pape's review as it sums it up quite well.

"In this show, you'll see everything non-anime favs consider wrong about anime. On the other hand, if you're a manga/anime/video games fan, you'll probably enjoy the hell out of it."

I adore this show, it's in my top 10 tv shows and I think I've watched it 4 times. It's a really fun show but it's totally one of those where most outsiders to the anime community would look at it and recoil in disgust :P
