Chip music, arpeggios, orchestrations, battle themes, and victory jingles. Not a music genre per se if you ask me, video game music is the definite "soundtrack of my childhood". Packed with timeless, classic and eternally awesome melodies & themes that are today just as gripping as they were 1o, 2o, 3o years ago when they've been conceived, the library of VGM is as versatile as video games themselves. Especially the older themes are so simple and yet, unforgettable. I've even enjoyed soundtracks of games I've never played! And I still do. These composers – ingenious crafts(wo)men of an indubitably fine art – have deeply impressed me when I was little, and captivated me ever since. They circumvented technical restrictions with the help of creativity & simplicity, and that's what modern chiptune music is all about: bringing that old simplicity back – along with a sweet retro sound. And when I learned about OC ReMix who explore new variations of my old loves, they r0cked my s0xx off!
