It's like your usual HD remake, only with actual effort and improvements included. Besides the obvious resolution bump, graphics and lighting were rebuilt from the ground up. New elements were added, such as the GamePad's use as a map and inventory management, and most importantly, problems with the original product were fixed. Objects now appear earlier on the horizon, a tedious mid-game fetch quest has been made shorter and funner, and certain items can be found to reward curious and returning players.

Not all remakes are equal. Wind Waker HD, like Metroid Zero Mission and Pokemon HeartGold, belongs to the top tier of remakes that made already great games even better.
