Probably the best Horror game for kids ever created. Not to mention one of the better "Horror" games in recent times, despite being cartoon fun and frequently silly. This game doesn't necessarily outdo the original so much as it reinterprets the idea, achieving more in the process. Multiplayer is a great addition, the game is a great fit on the 3DS, Luigi and co are more loveable than ever, and the variety of settings and scenarios is rewarding.

The game's main flaw is that the bosses are a bit hit or miss. Though some, particularly the first major boss and the last few, are very good, the middle portion of the game has bosses far less impressive than the rest of the package. That said, only the fourth boss is truly "bad," and do minimal harm to Dark Moon.
