Krillin, as his name is often spelled, is rarely the focus of Dragon Ball. Goku is the protagonist while Vegeta and Gohan play larger parts latter on. However, Krillin manages to remain present and largely relevant for hundreds of episodes, providing more of an "everyman" view into great events despite technically being amazingly powerful. Plus, his various pieces of character development and various moments of defying the odds give him a great past to look back at.
